About Mike Hawkridge
I have always had a passion for photography, and for nearly fifty years it has been one of my main interests. It all started with a Kodak box camera way back when, but since retirement, I have been able to devote much more time to photography, exhibiting locally and at various international salons. I am an active member of Sidmouth Photographic Club where I am the Hon Secretary.
More recently I have been working on achieving a Royal Photographic Society distinction, and was successfully enrolled as a Licentiate of the RPS in 2015 and then an Associate in 2016. In 2017 I was awarded an AFIAP. You can see my Licentiate and Associate panels in my Galleries, as well as the images that gained me my AFIAP.
Subjects which interest me include night photography, landscape, abstract and architecture as well as the odd bit of macro photography and wildlife - pretty much anything in fact. I am inspired by the natural forms that I see in traditional landscapes as well as the dramatic and graphic shapes of the city.
I mainly use Sony mirrorless cameras and at the moment I have a Sony A6500 as my main cameras and an A6000 that is converted to full spectrum for infrared photography; I also use an Olympus OM1-Mk2 for macro work to take advantage of its in camera focus bracketing.
I hope you enjoy my work and thank you for looking at the images in my galleries: I have enjoyed making them.
